Just search for ‘Chaos Club’ and request to join to be able to access all information as well as gallery and history of previous trips. Or email the club and ask to be added to the mailing list”

Who are the CHAOS (climbing hills and other sports) club?

We are basically a group of people who enjoy spending time in the mountains.  We do have some qualified mountain leaders who come away with us however they are not really there in that capacity and you come away at your own risk.

We will tailor any trip to suit the skills and abilities of those who attend.

We try and do one day trip a month (roughly) over to the Lakes or somewhere more local then have a few trips a year where we go further afield for a few days maybe Scotland, Snowdonia or Northern Ireland.  We get use of the sports and social buses for free so the only cost to you for those trips is your accommodation.  We then apply to sports and social for some funding if we can to assist with that.  Generally we stay in hostels anyway which keeps the cost down.

We have some kit that we can loan out if required.  There is a lot of experience in the group if you have any questions.

Please feel free to come a long and meet the group and see what we are about and enjoy a day in the hills.  Generally a day trip starts with a stop for breakfast and ends with a couple of drinks in the pub then chips on the way home.

If you’ve any other questions don’t hesitate to get in touch and contact the club on chaosclub2018@gmail.com or contact one of the above committee members

Future events for 2025

We are to finalise dates for day walks and details will be updated on our page and details shared to our mailing list

The CHAOS club will be arranging their AGM and discussing plans for the remainder of the year and keen for input for future trips

Summer trip July 2025

We have booked Hathersage YHA for a trip and will be going Sunday 6th July and returning on 9th July.

The YHA is in a perfect location in the centre of Hathersage with lots of pubs and restaurants. It’s approx 10 minute drive to lots of good walks, Castleton, and Blue John cavern caves etc.

We have exclusive use of the hostel so if anyone would like to bring a partner or older child then this is an option but please note that priority would be given to serving staff if we receive a lot of interest

Check out the hostel as per below

YHA Hathersage Hostel | Cheap Accommodation Hathersage

It is noted that the kitchen is quite small but has all appliances and the dining room seats up to 28 people across 7 tables but once again to stress we have exclusive use of the hostel so making meals etc shouldn’t be an issue

If you would like to go on the trip please email the club and deposit of £90 would be required

To take advantage of the offers you must be a member of sports and social
