Northumbria Invitational Match 6 Bowes Lake, Angel of the North lakes, Birtley
Monday 25th August 2025.
Another bright and warm summers day saw the anglers gather at the Angel of the North complex for the sixth match in this series. The talk on the bank was who was going to draw the favoured pegs 1 and 40 and the current inform peg 7. The draw was made 10am and the anglers marched off to their allocated pegs.
The all in was called at 11.15am.
Kevin Hood (Northumbria) on peg 4 was into fish straight away and was catching some good carp using a method feeder alternating micro pellet or groundbait around the feeder wirh pellet as the hookbait.
Next door on peg 3 Steve Holmes (Northumbria) was fishing the pellet waggler and was picking up the odd carp.
On peg 20 Paul Hutchinson(Northumbria) was picking up odd fish on the method feeder fishing close to the gusher aerator. Paul unfortunately suffered the same fate that befell Paul Anderson a month or so ago when the breeze got up and Paul had to endure 4 hours fishing sitting in a fine spray whilst the rest of us basked in 27° sunshine.
Dave Brown (Northumbriaondrew peg 7 for the second match in a row. Dave had a good days fishing. Dave caught regularly throughout the match catching carp up to 11lb on his trusty method feeder on the pole.
